He’s obviously never heard of the phrase ‘play the whistle’

If you ever wondered what the standard of goalkeeping is like in the fourth tier of Italian football then wonder no more.

It’s pretty bad if this absolute howler from the game between Macerata and Sambenedettese is anything to go by.

The hosts won 3-1 and one of the goals came courtesy of a massive goalkeeping error as the netminder thinks a fiercely struck shot has gone out of play.

He heads off to one of the ballboys behind the goal to get a new ball while the match goes on behind his back.

Needless to say Macerata take full advantage to score.
