No surprise with the number
Liverpool fans are gradually coming to terms with the departure of their club captain Steven Gerrard as he heads for Los Angeles this summer to hook up with Robbie Keane at La Galaxy. The Reds midfielder has worn the iconic number 8 jersey on Merseyside since 2004 and the MLS club aren’t about to break that tradition with his strip for next season.
Breaking tradition is one thing but if you want to own the jersey you may have to break the bank, as the club are certainly looking to cash in on the Liverpool man while they have him.
The club unveiled the jersey with a typically slick video but it’s the price that has been catching some eyes rather than the design. The short-sleeved jersey is retailing in the LA Galaxy club shop for an eye-watering €156 euro, while if you don’t fancy the cold and prefer the long-sleeve version, that’s going to set you back €177.
Even the richest parents or the most die hard ‘sawker’ fans on the west coast might find it hard to shell out that much before even seeing the man in action.
Despite the price the jersey itself is pretty tasty and it reminds us a bit if Gerrard had ever fancied a swop to Tottenham or maybe Fulham.
