VIDEO: Steve McManaman reckons Louis Van Gaal should be given more time but no more money

Contradiction in terms

Is he having a laugh?

We all know about Steve McManaman’s Anfield allegiances, but as with the likes of Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville, you expect a bit of neutrality to his punditry.

His most recent comments about Louis van Gaal’s immediate future suggest he is either somewhat biased about Manchester United’s current woes, or he has a very unique take on reality.

Speaking on BT Sport, McManaman complained that United’s results weren’t good enough, and that the Dutchman was at fault for letting the likes of Danny Welbeck, Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Javier Hernandez go. Then argued he shouldn’t be sacked…

Then, when talking about the forthcoming transfer window, the former Liverpool winger was adamant that Van Gaal should not be allowed any more money to solve the problems at Old Trafford…

So he should stay, even though he has ‘decimated’ the squad, but then not be allowed funds to strengthen it? Okaaay
