Video: Sam Allardyce says West Ham couldn’t cope with ‘long ball’ Manchester United

Kettle, meet pot

Surely Big Sam is trying to wind us up here?

Manchester United went direct in search of an equaliser in today’s Premier League game with West Ham United. Louis van Gaal’s side utilised the physical presence of substitute Marouane Fellaini by playing a series of long balls, 30 more than their opponents, and were rewarded with Daley Blind’s late goal.

When speaking about the game after full-time, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce said his side couldn’t deal with United’s direct tactics. A style of football strongly associated with Allardyce.

‘We couldn’t cope with long-ball Man United. It was thump it forward and see what you get’.

We’re not saying he isn’t factually correct, as United were clearly playing a lot of long balls, but the comments seem a bit rich coming from Big Sam. We can only assume he’s attempting to wind-up already disgruntled United fans and get one over Louis van Gaal.
