Paul Ince described him as Mr Manchester United and it seems a former colleague agrees
A book will never tell you the full story. Sometimes its the people that were there at the time of history being made are best placed to recall the gory details.
And when talking about Manchester United under Alex Ferguson, who’s better placed than the players who served under him to reveal some trade secrets. Peter Schmeichel, speaking on Sky Sports Fantasy football show last night, revealed how the Scot would get to know everything about a player, including their family, to try and cajole the best performance possible out of them. And it worked.
He also revealed how Ferguson would also often have a two-year plan mapped out for players as young as 17Â in order for them to make the step up to first team football. And that worked too.
We love this kind of thing and it’s just a pity that the Dane couldn’t go into further detail.
