Manchester United may be a huge money-making behemoth of a corporation, with its multinational tentacles stretching out to all corners of the globe, but there’s something reassuringly local and almost parochial about their famous youth academy conveyor belt.
The likes of Remi Moses, Wes Brown, Nicky Butt, Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Danny Welbeck, Tyler Blackett and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson all hail from the greater Manchester area.
But their latest star graduate may just be the most Manc of the lot, judging from his accent at least. Marcus Rashford comes from Wythenshawe in south Manchester, and it definitely shows in his dulcet tones.
