VIDEO: Emotional John Muldoon reveals the bet he placed that he was only too happy to lose

Conan Doherty

John Muldoon has seen it all.

He was coming through 13 years ago when there was talk of dismantling Connacht.

He’s been there through the hard times and, now, through the good times, he is still the exact same. Still a leader, still a warrior, still a Connacht man to the very core.

After their historic 20-10 victory over Leinster in the Pro 12 final, Muldoon was lost for words amidst the tears and the raw emotion.

The Galway man was choked up in his post-match interview, overcome with the magic of what had just happened.

And he revealed that he was only too happy to cry, even if it meant losing 20 quid to the lads.

“We had a bet earlier in the year – 20 euros – that if we won it, I would cry. It’s the best 20 quid I’ll ever spend.”

Never has a man so speechless said so much. This is what it means to be a Connacht man today. This is what it’s all about.
