Cristiano Ronaldo could just be the full package.

Yes, he likes individual accolades. He wants to break records. He wants to hang around in dangerous areas if it means putting a thorn in the opposition and, yes, he wants to show off his godlike body afterwards.

Who wouldn’t?

But where Ronaldo is criticised for being lazy and selfish – for being greedy – the Real Madrid legend was seriously tuned in against Barcelona at the Nou Camp. There were no huffs, no strops, no hanging around with his hands on his hips. He was doing a job and he was doing it for the team.

During the first half, footage shows the club’s most prolific goalscorer of all time keeping tabs on Jordi Alba and it shows him snuffing the full back out.

Zinedine Zidane’s tactics board from the game was unveiled on Monday and, considering how well Madrid played – particularly in the second period – the manager deserves plenty of credit.

Considering he had Cristiano Ronaldo making these sort of backward runs into his own box just to halt the opposition full back and deny Lionel Messi what would’ve been a lovely assist, the manager deserves more credit.

When Messi does this kind of work, we talk about it over and over etc etc. Good to see this superstar isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty either.
