It is a night for new heroes in Irish football.
Little did we know that when Ireland drew with Scotland earlier this year at the Aviva that we would be ending November on our way to Euro 2016.
Martin O’Neill’s side have pulled off some incredible results in the last few months, and have reached the promised land of France next summer after the 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The hero of tonight was Jonathan Walters, who scored twice past his former Stoke City team-mate Asmir Begovic in the Bosnia goal.
But in a wonderful moment of graciousness, and pure class, the Stoke man, caught up in the Ireland celebrations, still made time to chat and console with the Bosnia goalkeeper.
It was a short exchange of words but just shows that Walters, often maligned by his own fans over the years, is a proper gentleman
