Video: A catchy Olivier Giroud chant didn’t go down well with all Arsenal fans yesterday

Some of these lads don't even sing when they're winning

‘Oh they sing it now, don’t they?’.

Yes, disgruntled Arsenal fan, they do. That’s because Olivier Giroud was back amongst the goals after his horror show in the Champions League earlier in the week. Well, some of them in the video do anyway. The rest roll their eyes or groan.

Giroud opened the scoring in Arsenal’s 2-0 win against Everton yesterday, prompting a small section of fans in the North Bank stand to sing a catchy number in honour of the French striker, inspired by the Beatles song ‘Hey Jude’.

However, not all Gunners fans join in. A lot turn their head towards the section singing above them, seemingly disgusted that fans would sing a song, about one of their own players, who scored a goal. What’s the world coming to?

It seems some of the fans either haven’t completely forgiven Giroud for his missed chances against Monaco, or they think those who are chanting are a little bit hypocritical. Either way, the chant drains out.

A player’s poor performance shouldn’t be a deterrent to fans singing about him. Exemlpified by this masterpiece from Liverpool fans about Djimi Traore,

Don’t blame it on Biscan, don’t blame it on Finann, don’t blame it on Hamann, blame it on Traore. He just can’t, he just can’t, he just can’t control his feet…”

Hat-tip The Mirror.
