Transfer talk: Schurrle and Salah to make way for Cuadrado, while Milner could be heading to Spain

The Blues must cut the excess in order to bring in the Colombian

Neil Treacy

11 days and counting until deadline day, and the gossip is coming in thick and fast this morning.

The big news yesterday was Chelsea’s interest in Colombian midfielder Juan Cuadrado.

It’s being reported by The Independent that Chelsea are still keen to land the Fiorentina star, but may need to stump up £27m to bring him to the Bridge.

To make room for the Colombian, they are claiming that either Mohamed Salah or Andre Schurrle will be shipped out of the club.

Salah has been a big flop since his £11m signing from Basel this time last year, and it’s thought Chelsea are keen to offload him as soon as possible, while Schurrle is believed to be a target for Wolfsburg, after falling out of favour with Jose Mourinho.

Juventus FC v FC Internazionale Milano - Serie A

The Express are reporting that Chelsea also have a keen eye on long-term Manchester United target Paul Pogba, and could make a £40m move should they offload Schurrle or Salah.

Pogba has been repeatedly been linked with a return to Old Trafford ever since he left for Juventus in 2012, but they should face some heavy competition if they have any ambitions to bring him back to Manchester.

We’re not so sure about their labeling of Pogba as a United “flop” however…

Manchester City v Blackburn Rovers - FA Cup Third Round Replay

James Milner has been linked quite a bit with a move to either Liverpool or Arsenal this window, but if The Mirror are to be believed, the Man City midfielder could be leaving the Premier League altogether.

Milner’s contract is set to expire this summer, and it’s thought that Valencia have put an offer on the table in a bid to hijack the well-touted move to Merseyside.

Tottenham Hotspur FC v FK Partizan - UEFA Europa League

Swansea could wrap up a deal for Spurs right-back Kyle Naughton today, according to The Mail.

The player will travel to Wales for a medical today, after being given permission to speak to Swansea, but the clubs are yet to reach an agreement over the fee, which could be around £5m.

Norwich City v Newcastle United - Premier League

Swansea could also be shelling out £5m for Norwich’s Martin Olsson, again according to The Mail.

Garry Monk’s side have already had a £4.3m bid rejected, as Norwich hold out for more money.

They’re keen to boost their defensive option with both Olsson and Naughton, after Neil Taylor has disappointed since Den Davies departure, and could soon find himself leaving the Liberty Stadium.

FC Internazionale Training Session

In a move that can only end badly (although would be great entertainment for the neutral), Southampton flop Dani Osvaldo is being touted as a possible loan signing for QPR (The Mail).

Osvaldo is on-loan at Inter Milan, but the striker has fallen out with manager Roberto Mancini and is currently training on his own, and with the Italian publicly saying he has no intention of returning to the Saints, after his infamous head-butt of Jose Fonte last year, he’s now a reported interest for Harry Redknapp.

With QPR badly in need of a bit of a wildcard in their relegation battle, Osvaldo is seen as a cheap stopgap for Redknapp, who has reportedly been told he has no funds to work with this month.

Wigan Athletic v Arsenal - FA Cup Semi-Final

And finally, Tony Pulis has his eyes on Callum McManaman to improve his West Brom side, but Wigan are trying to hold out for more than £4m for the Scottish International.

Pulis has spoken of his interest in McManaman, but after a £3.5m bid was rejected yesterday, the infamous Sky Sources say that Wigan are playing hardball on the Premier League side.
