Transfer Talk: Manchester United to offer silly money for Ronaldo while Reus is eyed up by Arsenal

Surely Real Madrid would have to listen to this offer

Those ‘Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford’ rumours simply won’t go away

As he becomes grumpier and grumpier at the Bernabeu, the rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo will pack up his tent and head back to Manchester United continue to surface.

Today the Express goes big on the story, saying that United will offer Madrid £80m for the 30-year-old and they will pay him £14m a year too.

Those are enormous numbers, even for the reigning best player in the world. United have the money, as we have seen, and the latest TV and shirt deals mean they will be even wealthier next season but that still sounds like an awful lot of money to us.

The folks at Real, and the player himself, would surely have to listen if such an offer was actually made.

However, the Mail reckon that Louis van Gaal is going to splash the cash in an entirely different direction this summer. They say that Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba and Barcelona’s defender Dani Alves are on his shopping list and he hopes to land all three for a fee of £100m.

Now that would be good business.

The final bit of Manchester United news surrounds the Chris Smalling to Arsenal story that popped up a few days ago. The Manchester Evening News say that if a bid does come in, the Old Trafford top brass will reject it.

Speaking of Arsenal they feature in most papers today, following up the ‘Theo Walcott is in contract dispute’ rumour that has been floating around all week. The player tweeted yesterday that there was no row and that a deal would be discussed in the summer but the Telegraph believes that if Walcott does leave, Arsene Wenger fancies getting in Marco Reus to replace him.

Brendan Rodgers’ ears will surely prick up when he hears that Miralem Pjanic fancies leaving Roma. The 24-year-old has long been chased by Liverpool and the Mirror reckons the Bosnian wants out of the Italian capital.

Finally, in a move that couldn’t possibly go wrong, Spurs fancy taking Fernando Llorente to the Premier League, according to the Express.
