Proper midfielder, that Toni Kroos.
As Germany made a winning start to Euro 2016 with a 2-0 victory over Ukraine, the Real Madrid midfielder’s masterful passing display was a sight to behold.

As the Twitter masses drooled over Kroos’ performance (and pondered how some reports can claim Real Madrid are happy to use him as a make-weight in a potential deal for Paul Pogba), one former Aberdeen player recalled his exchange with the German back in 2008.
Stranraer defender Lee Mair was part of the Dons side that faced Bayern Munich in the Uefa Cup knockout stages back in 2007-2008. The German side progressed after two legs, winning 7-3 on aggregate.
Kroos was a youngster at the time, and when he found himself alongside Mair for a random drug test after the first match, he suggested the pair should swap jerseys. So, where is this prized possession now? Framed and hanging on a wall in his living room? Locked in a safe? Nope. Mair decided not to keep it, as he’d never heard of his young opponent before.
Hands up if you've ever swapped jerseys with Toni Kroos and gave it away as you didn't know who he was!! 🙋🏻

(It was 2008, we checked.)
He was just a young player making one of his first appearances for Bayern and I didn't know him so I gave the jersey away! 😀⚽️🇩🇪

Chin up Lee, we’re sure Toni probably still has his memento of his trip to Scotland.
