Manchester United’s reported interest in Neymar and Thomas Muller over the summer was quickly dismissed by many supporters as tabloid nonsense.
But after Neymar confirmed United’s interest in him was genuine, it now appears that the same can be said of Louis van Gaal’s intentions to bring Muller to Old Trafford.
Super agent Giovanni Branchini has claimed in a Q&A sessions with calciomercato.com that United were willing to pay an astronomical fee to land the Bayern Munich forward.
“Manchester United wanted Thomas Muller at all costs,” Branchini reportedly said.
“I’ve spent days trying to explain Bayern Munich would never let him leave – so in the end they changed their mind.”
In the end, United splurged a huge amount on Anthony Martial who has adapted very well to life at Old Trafford.
With Louis van Gaal still a huge admirer of Muller, another attempt to sign the German may not be out of the question.
