Things went from good to bad very quickly for Tottenham Hotspur in their Europa League second leg against Gent.
Christian Eriksen put the London club ahead on the night, and level on aggregate, when he slotted low past Lovre Kalinić with just 10 minutes on the clock.
But the Belgian visitors didn’t even need a shot on target to get back on level terms, with Harry Kane diverting a Stefan Mitrović header beyond Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris.

That left Spurs with an uphill task, needing two unanswered goals to progress on the night, and things got even more difficult when Dele Alli was shown a straight red card before half-time.
It was the first red of the England midfielder’s career, but he can have few complaints at the referee’s decision.
High, out of control, and one of those that looks worse on every watch.

Neutrals were disgusted, and even Spurs fans couldn’t make any excuses for the foul.
That is a horrendous challenge from Alli.

Ouch, that is a double-red card tackle there from Dele Alli on Dejaegere.

Dele's been brewing that one for a month or two, hasn't he? Le sigh.
