There could be good news yet for Leicester City in the Jamie Vardy to Arsenal saga

Leicester are not giving up their top goalscorer without a fight.

And Jamie Vardy is not giving up the King Power Stadium without some serious thought.

Whilst all the talk has been about the striker’s imminent move to Arsenal, whilst even Olivier Giroud has already been talking as if the Gunners had already signed him, there could be a twist or two yet – even before the Euros.

According to John Cross of the Mirror, Jamie Vardy to Arsenal is far from a done deal and the Premier League champions are prepared to up their salary for the England man.

Vardy is reportedly already being paid £60,000 a week at Leicester but Arsenal are said to have been offering him twice that.

Arsene Wenger even agreed to meet the 29-year-old’s £20m buyout clause but there’s a stumbling block now.

“Arsenal were very confident it would get done. However, Vardy has not so much stalled but taken his time to decide,” the Mirror report.

“Leicester are promising a bigger contract, they know losing Vardy could signal the start of an exodus and N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez could be next. They want the fairytale to continue.

“My impression is Vardy is inclined to join Arsenal. But imagine the hero worship he’d get if he stayed.”
