Perhaps the biggest surprise is Sunderland keeper Costel Pantilimon between the posts. The Romanian had far and away the best save success rate last campaign with 79.8% which dwarfed David de Gea's 69.4%.
The other two unusual selections come in defence where Chris Smalling and Nacho Monreal make the defensive line. Both players have been perpetually improving this season and finished with the highest average match rating in the league for their respective positions.
