The stat that shows how much Aaron Ramsey’s upped his game for Wales this summer

One of the players of the tournament?

Simon Lloyd

Inevitably, most of the pre-tournament talk was about Gareth Bale being the only real threat for Wales at Euro 2016.

Fast forward a few weeks and this Welsh side have proven beyond doubt that they’re more than the one man team many expected them to be.

Sure, Gareth Bale’s three goals have made a telling contribution to the Welsh cause – but other players have more than stepped up to the plate for Chris Coleman’s side, with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey one of the key performers for throughout their tournament so far.

Incredibly – as pointed out by Squawka – Ramsey’s tally of four assists in the five Welsh games thus far is equal to the number of assists he managed in his 31 Premier League performances for Arsenal this past season.

Not bad going, eh? It’s like all that peroxide contained some special assist-making powers.

Unfortunately from a Welsh perspective, the booking Ramsey picked up against Belgium on Friday evening means he will be absent for the semi-final against Portugal on Wednesday. If this is anything to go by, he’ll be sorely missed.
