The Champions League final of 2016. How will it be remembered?
Will it be for the Sergio Ramos opener that looked ever so slightly offside? Or will it be for Antoinne Griezmann’s crossbar-rattling penalty miss? How about Yannick Carrasco celebrating his equaliser by running into the crowd and kissing his partner?
No. Milan’s all-Madrid final of 2016 will be looked back on by football fans around the world for the night that Rio Ferdinand wore a tuxedo.
The former Manchester United skipper took up his place in the BT Sport studio for the match and opted to go all out in the dress-stakes for the big occasion.

Predictably, Twitter was intrigued by his choice of outfit.
Some suggested he’d look more at home alongside Len Goodman than giving his opinions on the big game.

A LOT of people thought he was getting ready to play a game of snooker…
Is Rio at the right sporting event? Do they play snooker in Italy.

Then there was the suggestion that he’d lost a bet…
What's the deal with Rio Ferdinand's tux, did he lose a bet or something? #uclfinal

And that he was throwing his hat into the ring for Daniel Craig’s job..
Turns out Rio Ferdinand is the new James Bond. #tux #sharp #007

But generally speaking, there was a sense of utter bemusement…
Rio, why the tux?

Why is Rio Ferdinand wearing a tux? Wally.
