Sunderland fans are furious with David Moyes

Robert Redmond

Sunderland threw away a two-goal lead against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

The Premier League’s bottom team were 30 minutes away from their first victory of the season, thanks to a brace from Jermain Defoe, but somehow failed to hold on at the Stadium of Light.

Joe Ledley scored within a minute of Defoe’s second goal, and James McArthur drew the sides level after 76 minutes.

Then, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Christian Benteke won the game for Palace, and left David Moyes under a lot of pressure.

Sunderland have been in relegation battles for the past few seasons, and have started seasons in poor form, so no one was expecting Moyes to have the team challenging for the title.

But the former Manchester United manager hasn’t exactly made a great impression with the Black Cats fans so far, with his signings and team selection under serious scrutiny already.

Following the collapse to Palace, Sunderland fans were left enraged and many on social media predicted Moyes to be the first Premier League manager to be sacked this season.
