Sunday’s transfer news: Bale and De Gea in swap deal as Modric’s wife wants out at Real

The swap shop is open at Old Trafford

It may be Sunday but that doesn’t mean the transfer rumour mill gets to sleep in and have its breakfast in bed.

Two players who could be swapping beds (not in that kinda way, you dirty mind) are David De Gea and Gareth Bale.

According to the Sunday People, Manchester United are looking to pay over €100million to tempt the Wales international back to the Premier League with De Gea moving in the other direction as a possible makeweight.

We’re not sure what United fans would make of losing their goalkeeper for a winger but the Daily Star Sunday says that the Old Trafford club are interested in Bale but not at the expense of losing their best player so far this season.

Tottenham are making a right habit of scoring last-minute winners and maybe they are hoping that a new winger might give their supporters and management a bit of an easier time heading towards the 90th minute.

They do love a player burning up the touchlines at White Hart Lane and it seems that a man once courted by Liverpool could be heading to London.

According to the Mail On Sunday, a deal for Yevhen Konoplyanka, a free agent in the summer, could be agreed in the coming days, with his club Dnipro desperate to try and get something for a player valued at about €16million in last year’s January transfer window.

With Samuel Eto’o heading back to Italy and Sampdoria, Everton could be about to lose another member of their playing squad and one not described as pretty much a pensioner like the Cameroon international.

Belgian Kevin Mirallas has been one of the Toffees’ better performers in what has been an underwhelming season at Goodison but is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund according to the Sunday People.

He has only 18 months left in his contract so the club are anxious to get value for anyone they may have to sell in the coming months, even if Roberto Martinez ruled out any key sales in January.

Liverpool v Everton - Premier League

Luka Modric is player that every football has a massive soft spot for, with his silky skills and even more silky hair (probably).

The Croat’s wife is said to be unhappy in Madrid and wants to move back to England, which according to the Sunday Express, has alerted the interest of Chelsea and Manchester United.

The 29-year-old wouldn’t come cheap and is central to Madrid’s fluid style but as we saw with Alexis Sanchez, whose wife made him choose London over Liverpool, domestic bliss is pretty important to some footballers.

Real Madrid CF v Levante UD - La Liga

Alan Pardew seemed to leave Newcastle on fairly good terms when he decided Crystal Palace was a more stable environment than having to work under Mike Ashley.

But that relationship may be about to change if Papiss Cisse makes the move south to follow his former boss.

According to the Sunday Mirror the 29-year-old is top of the wanted list at Selhurst Park, even if he is on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal at the moment.
