Steve Bruce calls out Norwich over pursuit of Irish international

'Embarrassing'

Kevin McGillicuddy

Steve Bruce is not a happy man

The Hull boss is trying to prepare for life in the Championship after demotion from the Premier League last season, and has already seen two if his Irish contingent leave the premises.

Paul McShane and Stephen Quinn have both passed through the exit door recently, and the former Manchester United defender is trying to prevent a third from packing his bags.

Robbie Brady is being linked with a move to Norwich to team up with Wes Hoolahan, but Bruce is very annoyed the club are trying to unsettle his player.

“Norwich have come in with bids for Robbie Brady but I have to say they’ve been embarrassing.

“The supporters should know the truth and Norwich came in two weeks ago with a bid of £2m, £2.5m and then £3m.

That’s ridiculous for someone who is 23, has played two years in the Premier League and has become a regular international. This can unsettle players, do this, that or the other, and it’s all part of the game.

But Robbie Brady will not be going for anywhere near that.”

To be fair we think that Bruce may have a point as Hull paid just under £3m for the 23-year old in 2012 and he is definitely worth more than that now.

How much more?

We’re not sure, but if Norwich are going to prise him away from the KC Stadium they better be ready to cough up.
