Liverpool may just be clinging on to their place in the top half of the Premier League table but their defence is leakier than Gary Lineker’s back passage.
With 36 goals conceded in the Premier League this season, the Reds have let in more than all but five sides – Bournemouth, Newcastle, Norwich, Sunderland and Aston Villa.
And it’s not all unsaveable screamers that are flying into the top corner. More often than not, they’ve been defensive mistakes that have resulted in the ball being bundled into the net.
In terms of most defensive errors in the league, three players are the guiltiest offenders at five apiece.
And, shockingly, two of those players are Reds with both Simon Mignolet and Emre Can joining Everton’s Gareth Barry in the top three.

No wonder Jurgen Klopp is laughing a lot less nowadays.
