Gary McCabe should know better.
In fact, we know the Shamrock Rovers man does know better than to think he could get away with a tackle like this on Dundalk’s captain Stephen O’Donnell.
The Hoops were playing Dundalk tonight in Tallaght, but the game got off to a terrible start for the hosts when an own goal by David Webster gave the away side the lead.

A seemingly tough task against the league leaders then got infinitely harder when McCabe lunged into a tackle in the 30th minute that earned him a straight red, and rightly so.

He can’t have any complaints, and he is likely to miss several key games for the Hoops over the coming weeks after the rush of blood to his head.
31 minutes gone and Rovers down to ten. Gary McCabe goes over the ball to connect with O'Donnell's ankle. Red card. Dundalk skipper furious.

McCabe straight red. No complaints about it either. Over the ball leaves ground wreck less tackle @alancaw #shadun #loi
