Seems like De Gea to Madrid is finally dead in the water

Is Madrid's pursuit of David de Gea finally over?

Jose Mourinho and United fans might just be able to breath a sigh of relief

Real Madrid’s pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is a tale as old as time. Ever since the Spaniard established himself as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League, officials at the Santiago Bernabeu have been fluttering their eyelashes like Bugs Bunny dressed as a femme fatale.

There was the famous fax machine incident which prevented Manchester United from having to relinquish De Gea to Madrid in 2015, and has prompted fans to celebrate “Fax Machine Day” each year on August 31st.

Each year brings the same fear for Manchester United fans, the fear that their best player will be taken from them, but a recent report from France’s RMC Sport suggests that that fear may soon be a thing of the past.

The publication has stated that Madrid are done coveting David de Gea and will instead switch their attention to Roma’s goalkeeper Alisson Becker, with talks already underway between the club and the Brazilian’s representatives.

While Roma aren’t particularly enthused about letting Alisson go, RMC suggests that Madrid are willing to part with as much as €70 million for him.

Madrid’s interest isn’t just bad news for Roma though, Liverpool too will be discouraged to hear that their main goalkeeping target is within the cross hairs of Zidane’s side.

Klopp’s side have been consistently linked with a move for the 25-year-old, but failure to sign him should be tempered by the fact that Loris Karius is currently in the form of his life.
