This is a different approach.
Ruben Amorim reportedly gave his Manchester United players a rating out of 10 in the dressing room after their 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town on Sunday.
A source close to the team leaked Amorim’s dressing room message to his players as the Portuguese tactician took a different approach as he looks to restore Manchester United’s glory days.
After the game had concluded, Amorim told reporters that Man United would ‘suffer’ for a long time before they could get back on track.
He said: “We are going to suffer for a long period. We will try to win games but this will take time.
“We have to risk it a little bit [now] and in the next year we will be better [otherwise] next year at the same stage we will be here with the same problems.”
One way he hopes to help his players is by offering them his rating out of 10.
A source told the Sun that the boss gave his side a mere 5/10 rating for their performance at Portman Road.
Amorim ‘delivered his verdict’ to the squad with a brutal assessment of their performances and reportedly criticised two players for giving the ball away.
The source said: “Amorim said their performance was a five out of 10. He was impressed with Ipswich and thought the game was played at an incredible intensity. But he added that it showed just how much United need to improve.
“He was critical of one or two players for losing the ball and not being in the right positions. But he also said, ‘Some of you I’ve had for two days, some two weeks’, so he was realistic. He did say they were going to have to learn quickly.”
Marcus Rashford excited fans after he scored inside 80 seconds but just before half-time Omari Hutchinson’s effort deflected past Andre Onana into the top corner.
