Roy Keane compares Eddie Nketiah to Arsenal legend Ian Wright

High praise.

Roy Keane compared Arsenal match-winner Eddie Nketiah to Ian Wright after the Gunners’ 3-2 win against Manchester United.

Nketiah was in the right place at the right time to score in the 90th minute as Mikel Arteta’s side extended their lead at the top of the table by five points.

Marcus Rashford gave United the lead with a stunning first-half strike, escaping Thomas Partey before rifling a shot low into the bottom corner.

The hosts quickly responded though as Nketiah found himself on the end of a clipped ball into the box from Granit Xhaka to level the tie.

Bukayo Saka then put Arsenal in front after the break, cutting onto his left foot to evade Luke Shaw, curling a glorious effort which was out of David De Gea’s reach.

United hit back once again as Lisandro Martínez’s diving header levelled the proceedings. Arsenal knocked on the door though and their resilience paid off as Oleksandr Zinchenko’s cross pin-balled in the box, eventually finding Nketiah, who was able to guide it into the net and set the home fans into raptures.

Arsenal’s academy graduate has stepped up well to fill the void of Gabriel Jesus – who is out injured – and during the post-match analysis, Keane drew comparisons to former Gunners star, Ian Wright.

“Credit to the striker, absolutely fantastic finish!” he said on Sky Sports.

Jamie Redknapp then exclaimed: “That’s a Wrighty finish,” to which Keane replied: “Ian Wright, 100 per cent.

“He’s in the right place, it comes at him very, very quickly,” the Irishman continued.

“You hear all of the top strikers talking ‘you have to hang around that six-yard box because the ball will come to you.

“He was clearly onside and he deserved that.”
