Roy Keane has been given serious backing to be the next Celtic manager

As character references go, you could probably get better than Ronny Deila in fairness.

But the outgoing Celtic manager has thrown his support behind Roy Keane to succeed him. Two seasons, two league titles and a Scottish League Cup was the Norwegian's lot at Parkhead but, after thumping Motherwell 7-0 in the final game of the season on Sunday, maybe fans of the Hoops would like their manager to stay after all... https://twitter.com/celticfc/status/731839557797351425 Alright, no. Probably not. But it was a decent way to go. The next manager at Celtic Park is still unknown but the rumours are circling, and they're doing so manically. David Moyes is still out in front according to Ladbrokes but he has serious competition. It isn't the Scotsman who Ronny Deila is backing to replace him though. Rather, an inspirational Cork native.

"I loved watching him and he’s a strong character," Deila is quoted in the Daily Record. “He’s Irish, of course, and he’s played for Celtic. He knows what this club is all about. So he has the skill set that could be good in this job. “I think he would have things that I didn’t. And maybe I have things that he doesn’t. It’s about what the club want and if they pick Roy they will know what they’re getting. “Roy would certainly handle the pressure, I’m sure. But you’ll have to have your helmets on."
