Mammy Lukaku knows best

It seems that Romelu Lukaku’s mother played a pivotal role in the striker signing for the Toffees.

The Belgian sharpshooter moved to Goodison Park for a club record £28 million in 2014 following a successful loan spell at the club.

Prior to closing the deal, Lukaku was one of Europe’s most sought after young strikers with plenty of sides looking to snap the youngster up.

So what made him decide to make a permanent move to Everton? He revealed to FourFourTwo that he twice rejected Roberto Martinez’s phone calls before his mother eventually convinced him to join the club.

“He [Martinez] actually called me three times and I didn’t pick up on the first two, so I’m glad I answered eventually,”

“I discussed it with him, I spoke to Chelsea, I spoke to my mother, and eventually she said: ‘Go to Everton.’ I haven’t regretted it.”

No wonder why Lukaku hasn’t regretted it. The striker has really found form this season. He currently sits joint-top of the Premier League scoring charts with 15 this campaign, while he has also bagged three goals in the Capitol One Cup.
