WATCH: Robbie Keane’s inspirational message will leave Irish hearts swollen with pride

Bring on the bloody Welsh!

Ben Kiely

Robbie Keane loved playing for Ireland.

He loved putting on that green jersey, he loved wearing the captain’s armband, he loved banging in the goals and, not to be sappy or anything, but he also loved you.

That’s right, Keano loved every fan who’s ever gone to a game, worn the famous green and screamed ‘Ole, ole, ole.’

Don’t believe us, check out his emotional message to the Irish supporters in the retrospective video below from Three’s #TheCallUp campaign in which he looks back upon his international career with rose-tinted glasses – from being handed his first cap to the lovable antics of the impassioned Irish support.

“We have the best fans in the world. Changing one of the lads’ wheels, singing to the baby on the train, fixing one of the lads’ bonnets, putting the money in through the window for him. You just never see that. I’ve never seen any other fans do that… ever, ever.”

This is just what the doctor ordered ahead of the Welsh game.
