Robbie Keane rolls back the years with cracking first goal in Indian football

Matthew Gault

He hasn’t retired yet.

Robbie Keane may be 37 but the former Tottenham and Republic of Ireland striker hasn’t lost his clinical touch.

The veteran clinched three points for ATK in the Indian Super League with a typically unerring finish. Keane turned sharply in the box after receiving the ball before firing a low shot into the corner of the net.

And yes, he did the celebration!

Keane was named ‘Hero of the Match’ after guiding Teddy Sheringham’s side to three points. Sheringham coaching Keane in India – who would have called that!?

After the game, Ireland’s most-capped player refused to get carried away when asked about his first goal in Indian football.

“We got three points and that’s the main thing.”

Spoken like a true pro.
