Nobody saw this coming.
Robbie Keane may be on his way back to English football with Wolves, 19 years after leaving them. The 37-year-old striker is currently with ATK Kolkata in India but has been tipped to rejoin the Championship leaders until the end of the season.
The former Republic of Ireland international is under contract with Teddy Sheringham’s side until March but it is understood that he will be able to secure an early release from his contract in order to link up with Wolves.
It would be a sensational and wholly unexpected development for the veteran Dubliner, who moved to England and spent two years at Molineux in his first steps as a professional footballer before joining Coventry City in 1999.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo believes Keane would add some invaluable experience to the dressing room as the club aim to achieve promotion back to the Premier League. They are currently 12 points ahead of second-placed Derby County at the Championship summit but Santo is thought to be determined to do all he can to ensure the run-in goes smoothly.
Keane has been a popular marquee player in India but received criticism for flying back home over the Christmas break. Although he is certain to draw ire from ATK supporters for leaving so early into his stint in India, a fairytale return to Wolves certainly represents an attractive opportunity for the former Tottenham and Liverpool man.
