Money had almost nothing to do with Leicester City winning the Premier League title.
However, money will have a lot to do with them staying near the summit of the table, as the Foxes enjoy the spoils of top-flight success.
Claudio Ranieri’s side, of course, famously cost less to assemble than several other top four sides, and champions, in years previous to 2016.

The club is set for a massive windfall after this season’s unexpected success, but financial consultancy firm Deloitte believes that if Claudio Ranieri’s side enjoy another good campaign next term, domestically and in Europe, they could become one of the biggest teams in the world.
According to Tim Bridge, speaking to Sky Sports, winning the Premier League this season is worth about £30-£50 million to Leicester City, compared to their 14th spot finish last term.
Reaching the Champions League, and going straight through to the group stages is likely to net the club’s owners a further £50 million, even if they don’t progress to the knockout rounds.
Bridge believes the club are well placed to become one of the top 20 best performing clubs in the coming years, if they maintain their impressive form:
“If Leicester continues their strong domestic performance and stay up near the top of the League, while also competing in the UEFA Champions League, they can expect a pretty significant revenue increase.
“If that happens, we’d expect Leicester to become a fixture in our Deloitte football money league, which ranks the top 20 clubs globally in terms of revenue.”
Commercially the club is likely to cash-in to the tune of £30-50 million over the coming years, while perhaps someday, they may even challenge their Premier League rivals such as West Ham and Tottenham for a place in that top 20 league table.
That is currently topped by Real Madrid, and while it would be nice, especially for Irish CEO of the club Susan Whelan, we’d suspect that for the club, and its players, there is only one table they want to top.
