There were reports that players cheered when Keane’s exit was announced and now we might know why.
We’re sure Roy Keane was using his now plentiful spare time to scout lots and lots of Irish players at the weekend after his rather sudden departure from Aston Villa last Friday.
After all, he said in a statement announcing his exit at Villa Park that he wanted to be more fully committed to his role with the Republic of Ireland.
We have to admit that we found the explanation a bit whiffy and now it seems suspicions that there was more to the Keane’s departure than just club v country loyalty are true.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Keane had a massive bust-up with players at the club’s training ground on Thursday that may even have continued off the pitch.
The Corkman and Paul Lambert are then understood to have held talks and decided to part ways with the players then informed by text message of Roy’s departure.
Players are alleged to have cheered when Keane’s exit was announced and we now have better idea why.
Roy Keane and a furious row leading to his exit from a club…that’s like never happened before!
