This is so crazy it might just be true.
Liverpool are to miss out on Anderson Talisca to Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to reports in Portuguese media outlet Abola.
The Brazilian midfielder has scored 20 goals in 76 games for Benfica, and has reportedly been chased by Liverpool for the past while.
However, according to Portuguese media, he will snub Jurgen Klopp’s side to sign for the side who finished 14th in the Championship last season, with the deal expected to be completed this weekend.
We know, crazy, right?
Well, maybe not.
Wolves were recently bought by Chinese conglomerate Fosun International for £45m and the new owners promised to make a splash in the transfer market.
“Any investment into club will not be problem for us. For players we should think about it the smart way,” Investment director Jeff Shi said.
“We have said we will invest between £20 and £30m over the next two years. That is a necessity and if necessary we can put more money in.‘The most important thing is getting the right players in the right position to help the club. I do not think money is a problem for us.”
Considering Liverpool are spoiled for attacking midfielders, it’s possible Wolves signing Talisca is about as plausible as Klopp’s side buying another player in a position where he’s already well-stocked.
It’s also so crazy it might just be true.
