The earlier this tedious saga comes to an end, the better.
It appears as though we don’t have too much longer to wait before we finally get confirmation of Jose Mourinho’s move to Manchester United.
The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the Old Trafford hot-seat since being sacked by the Blues for the second time and rumours of various levels of credibility have circulated ever since.
The latest chapter comes with the report in this weekend’s Sunday Express that claims that Mourinho put pen to paper last week on the deal to succeed Louis van Gaal.
Paris Saint Germain were thought to have increased their interest in Mourinho in recent weeks which has discouraged United from dilly-dallying.
The report, which emerged less than 24 hours after the Red Devils secured their place in the FA Cup final with a 2-1 victory over Everton, claims that the Portuguese is set to be confirmed as the next United manager in the next fortnight.
The terms of Mourinho’s contract are unknown but it’s believed that he will be afforded full control over the club’s transfer policy with Renato Sanches, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and John Stones rumoured to be top of his wishlist.
