REPORT: Jose Mourinho wants Karim Benzema to partner Anthony Martial up front at Manchester United

The striker enjoyed a glorious debut season for Manchester United, but may be fearful of his opportunities under soon-to-be-confirmed new manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese is no fan of giving youth its head, and instead, with his manic zeal for winning at all costs, prefers to buy in superstars to bolster his title charge. So Rashford and Wayne Rooney will be dismayed to hear reports  suggesting the ex-Chelsea boss wants an all French strike force next season. Anthony Martial is set for a busy summer with his country at the Euros, but a man who will be at home watching it on TV like most of us, has been linked with a move to Manchester. Karim Benzema is facing trial for an alleged sex tape blackmail scandal and has been excluded from the France squad until his trial but that won't stop Manchester United from making a major bid for his services this summer. According to The Independent, Mourinho is hoping his former club will be willing to part with the striker this summer as Zinedine Zidane rebuilds his squad. Benzema is currently in the midst of trying to sort a new deal with Real Madrid, for whom he signed in 2009, but if that fails, Mourinho is hoping that Ed Woodward can offer him a deal to move to the Premier League. Benzema has previously rejected Arsenal as a possible destination, but he and Mourinho are known to be close, and a deal could be part of a massive £150million summer spending spree that may also involve John Stones and PSG defender Marquinhos.
