Jamie Vardy is set to be dropped for England’s opening game of Euro 2016, according to The Mirror.
The Leicester City striker started England’s final friendly before the tournament, alongside Harry Kane up-front, and had appeared to have cemented his place in the side for Saturday’s game against Russia.
However, Vardy, who scored 24 goals last season as the Foxes won the Premier League, will reportedly be cut, with England switching from a 4-3-1-2 formation to a more conventional 4-3-3.
Joe Hart will start in goal, behind a defence of Kyle Walker, Chris Smalling, Gary Cahill and Danny Rose.
Eric Dier will anchor the midfield, Dele Alli also gets the nod alongside forward and captain Wayne Rooney in midfield.
Raheem Sterling will play wide-left, Adam Lallana on the right and Harry Kane as the sole striker.
Meanwhile, Vardy is “eighty percent” sure he will reject a move to Arsenal and stay at Leicester after the tournament, according to The Evening Standard.
