Facepalm moment for Roberto Martinez and Martin O’Neill
Some people just have no luck. We suspect if Darren Gibson was the only man who bought a ticket for a raffle,he’d end up losing it on his way up to collect the prize. He’s that unlucky, and it seems there is no end in sight for his injury woes after reports today suggest he’ll miss the rest of the season for both Everton and Ireland.
According to the Everton website this afternoon, the 27 year old has suffered a break in one of the metatarsals in his foot and will be out of action for a month at least.
The former Manchester United man missed most of last term with a knee injury, and had only recently returned to action with his club. However it now seems likely he won’t feature again this season for the Toffees. He missed Ireland’s draw with Poland last Sunday with a stomach problem and is understood to have suffered the break to his fifth metatarsal at training this week.
The club have confirmed the break to the bone but are hopeful that surgery will not be required on the injury.
