Mind made up

Jose Mourinho has already won one major battle at Manchester United and he’s not even been officially unveiled as manager yet.

At the top of the 53-year-old’s to-do list would have been to convince goalkeeper David De Gea to rebuff an inevitable approach from Real Madrid this summer.

But, according to Manchester Evening News, the Spanish stopper has already made his mind up about his playing future.

The report insists that while De Gea would have considered leaving for his home city if Louis van Gaal remained as United manager, the 25-year-old wants to stay and work under the incoming Mourinho.

Jose Mourinho Sighting in London

De Gea and van Gaal endured a frosty relationship at times, primarily due to the fact that the goalkeeper almost left for Real on the final day of last summer’s transfer window. The Dutchman consequently dropped De Gea for United’s first six matches of the season.

But De Gea, who shares an agent with Mourinho, is keen on building a greater bond with the Portuguese than he had with his former manager.
