Rangers new boy Joey Barton adored every second of Celtic’s shock defeat to Gibraltarian champions

It’s going to be a long season of Joey Barton’s trolling.

Rangers’ new midfielder has no filter when it comes to giving his opinion on everything from football to philosophy.

And the matchless rivalry that exists between Barton’s new side and Celtic means that we can expect some fiery exchanges on the 33-year-old’s Twitter throughout a season which will see Celtic and Rangers competing in the same league for the first time in four years.

More eyes than ever will be on the Scottish Premiership due to a number of reasons, the two biggest of which are Barton and new Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.

Rodgers took charge of his first competitive game for Celtic on Tuesday night and, needless to say, it did not go well as they suffered a surprise defeat to Lincoln Red Imps of Gibraltar.

And in spite of Rodgers’ insistence that “there was no embarrassment” after the game, Barton could not contain his amusement at the plight of his rivals.

We’re sure that Barton is no stranger to getting abuse in his Twitter mentions and must have expected the vitriolic reaction that his post would provoke.
