The Dutchman is currently playing for Fenerbahce in Turkey, and has been linked with a return to the Premier League. Although the current transfer market appears to have descended into madness, it hasn't reached the levels of insanity that would see Van Persie playing for the newly-promoted Rangers.
Mark Warburton was asked about the rumour which began to spread on social media on Wednesday night, and was bemused as any football fan when hearing it.
The Rangers said he woke to find numerous text messages asking him about the bizarre transfer, before dismissing it outright.
