Premier League club want to sign Lyon’s Irish star in January

Everton are in the market for Irish talent this January.

Premier League side Everton are currently hunting the signatures of two young Irish talents in January, including Olympique Lyonnais star Jake O’Brien according to Foot Mercato.

Everton have been hit with 10-point deduction after breaching profitability and sustainability rules relating to losses, so they have found themselves in a fight for Premier League survival.

Although Sean Dyche’s team have had a decent start to the campaign, the deduction has dragged them back into the bottom three, so any slip ups or series of bad results could result in them staying there.

It is imperative then that they add some fresh talent in January and two Irishman are on their list, including O’Brien who is currently playing in Ligue 1, but had only joined the club for €1m from Crystal Palace in the summer.

Lyon are having a torrid time at the moment, sitting bottom of the French league and have only won one game all season, but their one silver lining has been the performances of Ireland’s u21 star.

Despite playing at centre back, the 22-year-old is currently the club’s top scorer this season, joint with former Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, with both bagging three goals so far,

A powerful defender who is capable of getting a goal is something that will be right at the top of Dyche’s Christmas list and can only be good news for Ireland as another young star could earn some experience at the top level.

Everton are currently tracking young Irish winger playing in championship.

Everton have also shown interest in Leicester City’s winger Kasey McAteer, who has been impressing in the Championship this season. As the club are lacking a little up front, the midfielder could bring that creative spark that helps unlocks defences.

Due to their financial situation, those at Goodison Park are not looking to break the bank, but still need to bring in some quality this January, and they believe that both O’Brien and McAteer fit that description.

Price-tag set for Aaron Ramsdale with January transfer window nearing

Premier League

With Aaron Ramsdale firmly rooted to Arsenal’s bench, it looks increasingly likely that he will be on the move this January and there is a handful of clubs who would be very interested in his signature.

Man United are having goalkeeping problems with Andre Onana, and Erik ten Hag might be forced to bite the bullet and look for a replacement goalkeeper soon, but according to TalkSPORT Newcastle are interested in the Englishman.

Their number one shot stopper Nick Pope will miss a huge chunk of the Premier League season due to a shoulder injury that could see him out of action for four months or more, and naturally Ramsdale has been mentioned as a potential replacement, but reports say that he will cost up to £50m.

Former Man United star David de Gea has also been linked with a move to the Toon Army as he has been a free agent ever since his departure from Old Trafford.

Man United, Spurs and Newcastle on alert as French goalkeeper stalls in AC Milan contract talks

French goalkeeper Mike Maignan is currently the main man in goals for AC Milan, but according to footmercato he has stalled in his contract talks with the Italian giants.

This has put United, Spurs and Newcastle all on high alert as they might jump at the chance to sign a new keeper in the January transfer market, particularly one at this standard.

Due to Pope’s injury, Newcastle are the team most in need of a new goalkeeper, but if Ohana’s form doesn’t improve quickly, then Ten Hag has shown that he is ruthless enough to  replace him.
