Piotr Zielinski is tipping away nicely in Serie A.
The 21-year-old is a Udinese player but was loaned out to fellow top flighters Empoli ahead of 2014/15. Empoli liked him so much, they asked him to stick around for another year.
The change of scenery, and added responsibilities, has seen Zielinski flourish. In 30 league games [all starts] this season, he has scored four and set up another four.
Zielinski’s spell at Empoli is coming to an end and he is already eyeing a Premier League move. He told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty:
“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks.
“I’m not thinking too much about it right now though. I’ve still got few games to play for Empoli and after that there is still Euro 2016 in France.”
The midfielder obviously has his heart set on a switch to Anfield as he has spoken about the club in a number of recent interviews.
When he was back home for an international friendly, last month, he raved about a certain Brazilian playmaker on the Reds’ books:
“Philippe Coutinho is a great player,” he told Futbolfejs, “Of course. I think we could make good pair. Time will tell what’s gonna happen.”
Liverpool may well be in contact with many top prospects. Getting deals over the line is another matter.
Zielinski will be hoping to make a strong case for himself during Euro 2016.
