Plenty of fans are concerned at the strength of Liverpool’s starting XI against Wolves

In need of a win

When you’re winning, fans are more than happy to allow a manager to take a punt on youth.

But when a supposed Premier League contender’s only victory in 2017 has come against Plymouth Argyle (in a replay), supporters tend to be a little less forgiving of risk-taking.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp finds himself under some bit of pressure for the first time as Reds boss since crashing out of the EFL Cup just days after last weekend’s shock home defeat to league strugglers Swansea.

While some fans reacted to the month of poor form by jumping the gun ever so slightly in calling for Klopp’s dismissal, there is definite concern growing on Merseyside.

But Klopp is unflappable and will not have his philosophy disturbed by a group of anxious fans as he continues to nurture youth.

For today’s FA Cup fourth round clash against Championship outfit Wolves, Klopp named a number of inexperienced players, including Connor Randall, Ovie Ejaria and Ben Woodburn in the starting XI.

That same show of faith in youth that was applauded at the beginning of the month when Klopp named the youngest Liverpool starting XI in history is now beginning to alarm Reds fans who feel that their club is in dire need of a victory.

And they didn’t hesitate to make their feelings known prior to the lunchtime kick-off at Anfield.
