Thierry Henry has left his role as a youth team coach with Arsenal.
According to reports, Arsene Wenger issued an ultimatum to his former player: either give up his role as pundit for Sky Sports, or give up his coaching role at Arsenal.
He chose to remain in the gig that pays a reported £4m a year.
According to The Daily Mail:
“Wenger has ruled that Henry can only have a coaching role with Arsenal’s academy if he devotes himself full-time and relinquishes his role as a pundit on Sky Sports.
“Wenger, 66, feels his fellow Frenchman cannot work within the club during the week and then criticise their players at the weekend.”
The news that Henry will remain as a pundit angered Piers Morgan more than most. The broadcaster and Gunners fan took aim, as usual, at the Arsenal manager.
Morgan claims that Henry has being “driven out” of the club, and accused Wenger of hypocrisy.
Thierry Henry being driven out of Arsenal coaching staff is an utter disgrace.

Arsenal manager fires @ThierryHenry from coaching staff for not giving up Sky TV gig.
Same manager who also does TV punditry. #hypocrite— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 12, 2016
Gary Lineker got involved…
Ahem! Same manager that you said you're not going to mention again? #GOSH https://t.co/XdfTDYMZfd

My source is nothing to do the with Mail, and you couldn't be more wrong about Thierry. https://t.co/BHSiYGDDD3

But, despite some saying Henry’s decision wasn’t forced by Wenger, Morgan wouldn’t back down.
@allthatchas Your information is wrong. It wasn't Wenger's call. Sky call the shots. They pay TH14 circa 3m PA. Wait and see!

You are 100% wrong. Sky had no issues, all Arsenal manager's decision. https://t.co/MjdTbe7xPe
