PIC: Somehow this dangerous tackle in the Scottish Championship only earned a yellow card

New meaning to 'foot in mouth'

Kevin McGillicuddy

Ouch ouch ouch

We’ve seen a few horror tackles in our time here at SportsJOE but thankfully fully we’ve managed to avoid any leg breakers in our five-a-side career so far.

Most bad tackles in the professional game are punished by an immediate red card and referees usually tend not to look very kindly on putting a boot into someone’s face. Well they do things differently in Scotland clearly as this attempt to extract from teeth out of the mouth of a Hearts player shows

The Scottish championship leaders faced Livingston this afternoon at the Energy Assets Arena and eked out a 3-2 win thanks to an injury time winner. The Edinburgh side ended the game with 10 men but their opponents arguably also should have been down to 10 men after a tackle from Jason Talbot on Sam Nicholson.

Amazingly the referee only gave Talbot a yellow with the Hearts man getting some pretty extensive treatment afterwards on his face

UPDATE

The photograph didn’t even do that horror tackle justice. Check out the full on-flying assault below.
