PIC: Sol Campbell applies to be the new Aston Villa manager via Instagram

He has history of being a villain

Tim Sherwood look out

Almost every out of work football manager has been linked with the vacancy at Villa Park since Paul Lambert quit earlier this week.  Tim Sherwood appears to be among the favourites to land the job, although there has been a rush on Alan Curbishley of late. However both could be set to be blown out of the water by a man who knows exactly what it’s like to be a villian, of sorts, in his career.

Sol Campbell was once a darling of Tottenham Hotspur, but when he decided that he’d have a better chance of winning some silverware with their north London rivals Arsenal, he was described as a Judas and worse.

The former England man has a decent media career and is most known for his views on racism in football, but has never been a coach or manager before so we’re not sure if he would be able to cope with having to work with someone like Tom Cleverley every day.

Regardless of his desire to go bat-shit crazy trying to steer Villa away from the relegation zone, last night he took to his Instagram to throw his hat into the ring as a possible successor to Paul Lambert. We know Villa might be stuck but I don’t think they accept applications via social media just yet. And anyway, how’s a defender supposed to help them score more goals:

Another one bites the dust! Surely i’ve got a chance! Sol Campbell manager
