If we were to compile a list of things that irk the modern day football fan, half-and-half scarves would almost certainly feature near the top.
Football – at least as far as most of us are concerned – is about supporting *one* team, so the idea of proudly wearing something around your neck bearing the colours of a rival team is quite simply weird.
Although most of us will agree that they’re a terrible idea, there’s no sign of the half-and-half scarves craze disappearing any time soon… And now, Pep Guardiola appears to be getting involved.
The soon-to-be Manchester City boss was in attendance as Germany took on Italy at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday evening, and was seen sporting one of the scarves.

In fairness to Pep – a former Spanish international – he probably was watching the game as a neutral. With that in mind, maybe we shouldn’t expect to see him rocking up to the next Manchester derby with one of these draped around his neck.

Just this once, we’ll give Pep the benefit of the doubt.
