Report: Paul Pogba has chosen which club he wants to join

Robert Redmond

Paul Pogba has told his friends and family where he wants to play next season, according to L’Equipe.

The France midfielder is at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war between Manchester United and Real Madrid, with his club Juventus reportedly not prepared to accept anything less than €100m for the player.

The Guardian reported earlier this week that Pogba would prefer to join Real Madrid, rather than re-join United.

Pogba spent three years at Old Trafford, but left in acrimonious circumstances in 2012, joining Juventus on a free transfer after finding first-team opportunities hard to come by for United.

However, according to L’Equipe, Pogba has told those close to him that he wants to return to England.

According to the media outlet, Mino Riola, Pogba’s agent, met with Ed Woodward last Monday to discuss a deal for the 23-year-old.

United’s executive vice-chairman is prepared to sanction a world record transfer fee for Pogba, and wages of €300,000 a week.

L’Equipe claim Pogba has “clearly expressed” his desire to return to Old Trafford.
